To you who understand Indonesian, this post is revisiting the same object. However, as I have mentioned in the about page, some things are better expressed in different languages differently. This post reflects different aspect of one same object.
We have probably heard or even say this phrase more than once in our lives. One utters this to encourage self-inferior children. Others recite it to themselves to give courage. At times, it is also abused to justify egoistic nature. I am such person once in a while. And in this post-modern era where narcissism is somewhat celebrated, we can never be too careful to voice out such saying. Most of us had probably seen how this slogan construct personalities - whether for good or for ill. Perhaps the questions that we should all try to rethink are these: Who said it? Why did the person say it? What kind of era and cultural background did the person live in? Lastly, how did it affect that person's life?
As someone who bumped into Christianity, I am somehow convicted to a knowledge. That knowledge is that my identity is bound firmly within an Entity, who created me, redeemed me and gave me zillions possibilities to move on with my life. That knowledge is about letting myself up, and that makes me come to myself.
